It’s important to be organized. This is true in job search as well. Having the right job hunting strategy can help you find employment more quickly. On the other hand, not using an organized job search strategy can create unnecessary delays.


Step one is to determine exactly what job you are looking for. This is important because when you are clear about what you are looking for, you are more likely to find it.

Even if you are qualified for more than one position, decide on one job position that you want to apply to at this time and look for vacancies for that job. The job you focus on should be based on your long term career plan.

When you have found appropriate vacancies, go over them well and make sure you have all the required qualifications and experience. Applying at the correct experience level will enable you to have a better chance to get accepted.

Once you have found jobs you are qualified for, tailor your CV and cover letter for those jobs, entering relevant details that show your skills and qualifications match those needed for the job. Your cover letter should specifically outline how you qualify for the job.

Take your time adapting your CV and cover letter to each job you are applying for. When your CV and cover letter are ready, start sending out job applications.
